Taking care of a cracked molar can be a bit overwhelming and even nerve-wracking. Luckily, our Claremont Smile Design dental team is here to help you in any way we can. First, we encourage you to stay calm and keep a cool head. This will help keep the situation under control. Second, we recommend doing the following things:
-Avoid using the tooth: If you can, try to avoid eating anything until your tooth receives treatment. This is important because if you use your tooth, there is a chance you could worsen the damage. So, if you have to eat something, make sure to chew on the opposite side of your mouth and stick to eating soft foods, just in case.
-Control the bleeding and reduce swelling: Apply a piece of gauze pad to the injured area for about 10 minutes or until the bleeding stops. Do your best to reduce the swelling by icing outside the area with an ice pack. This will also minimize the pain and give you some comfort.
-Visit your dentist: Visit your dentist as soon as possible. Also, please don’t forget to bring any pieces of your tooth with you when you come in for your emergency appointment.
Doing these things can help you restore your cracked molar in Claremont, California, and save your smile.
